WARNING
Adjusting these values in in excess to your BMS shut off will result in continual shutdowns on your bike. We will not be held responsible for batteries that are damaged by users continually experiences BMS shutdowns from trying to use values which are not suitable. If you experience a BMS shutdown you should adjust your values accordingly starting with a 10% decrease in your Peak DC amps value.
EXPLAINING HOW IT ALL WORKS
PLEASE READ THE GUIDE BELOW FOR INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO BEST USE OUR BMS BOOST MODE.
WHAT IS BOOST MODE?
BMS Boost mode allows you to extract the most out of your battery without having to bypass your BMS. It doesn't just work for the stock battery it will also work for any battery that uses a BMS for discharge management.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
BMS Boost mode works by allowing the user to tweak several settings which can remain within BMS limits set on a battery. By tweaking these values you can gain some significant additional power without the need for any physical modifications.
HOW MUCH EXTRA?
What sort of gains should I expect? This really depends on your battery, both the BMS settings that are enforced and the specifications of the battery itself. However any user should be able to see and feel gains while using a battery that has a BMS managing its discharge output.
WHAT IF MY BATTERY DOES NOT HAVE A BMS ON DISCHARGE
If your battery does not have a BMS that manages discharge then you will not have need for the boost function. You can set the maximum DC amps according to your battery manufacturer.
WHAT FACTORS AFFECT THE VALUES I CAN USE?
There are a great deal of limiting factors that can affect what values you will be able to use. The first being your individual battery settings. Your BMS will have a ceiling for amp draw that will trigger a shutdown. Staying under this set of values is important to ensure stable operation. These values will often take some experimentation and adjustment to find.
Other factors that affect your amp draw are numerous and include rider weight, gearing, road surface / terrain type, terrain incline and riding style to name just a few. The important thing is finding the correct values for yourself, which may not be the same as a friend uses for the reasons above. Please see the guide below on how to tune these values effectively to get the most out of your bike. When you are using this please make small adjustments at a time. If you have a battery that is capable of 100 Amps continuous and you set the peak discharge to 240 Amps you will get regular BMS shutdowns and are not using the system correctly.
3 STAGES OF ADJUSTMENT

The BMS boost mode developed for our app and controller is designed to eek the maximum performance possible from your bike. We do this by using three different levels of adjustment to enable us to stay under BMS limits. By using the 3 different adjustments we can be more precise than using just a DC Amps value and often get away with values that would cause a BMS shutdown if you merely set the main DC amps value to this number.
The performance gains can be very significant depending on the battery type you have an the BMS settings. Lets look at each setting in Turn and explain how you should use it. BMS boost mode needs to be enabled in the app for this function to work. If you disable the app you will use the standard settings for your bike and battery that you use, or the default values that we have selected for you.
We have populated some suggested starting values for you in the app if you battery is listed. These values represent numbers that we have tested and we know are useable from our own riding. If your battery is not listed then please consult your battery manufacturers specifications and use conservative values for initial testing.
PEAK DISCHARGE
This value should be set according to your battery specifications. Setting this value too high will lead to a BMS shutdown on your bike where you will lose power. If this occurs you will need to give the BMS time to reset normally 30-60 seconds and then adjust the Peak discharge value on the app accordingly.
PEAK DURATION
This value is designed to allow adjustability from your peak DC Amps setting. you may find that if you set this value too high it will also trigger a BMS shutdown. Increments on this are in 0.5 seconds. We suggesting start with this value set to a low number such as 3 seconds. If this is tolerated then you can increase this value accordingly.
PEAK RESET TIME
This is the interval between your peak DC rating for boost being applied. This value can be changed in increments of 1 second but we would recommend again starting this off with a reasonable number between application of the boost DC value. Start with 3 of 5 seconds and adjust accordingly.
GETTING THE ADJUSTMENT RIGHT
When adjusting these values we would always suggest being conservative and starting in small increases. For some batteries including stock bikes we have set starting values for your to experiment with already. If you are using another 3rd party batteries we would suggest using the following settings to begin.
Peak DC Amps - 10% increase
Peak duration - 3 seconds (initial setting)
Peak Rest Time - 5 seconds (initial setting)
begin with the values above and adjust accordingly. If you do have a BMS shut down firstly adjust the Peak DC Amps value down by 5 or 10% and test again. Once you have a stable Peak DC value you will be able to adjust the duration and reset time to achieve the maximum performance for you bike and battery.
